Sassy announced to me this morning, "Mom, I would like to make a recipe book, then I would like to use the recipe book to make a pie."
Mmmmmm....I am all about the pie.
"What kind of pie, Sassy?"
"Weeelllll, I would like to start with bananas and peaches, then add 2 cups of water, 3 cups of milk, 4 cups of flour, and 5 cups of sugar. And mix it up really well [this accompanied by frantic mixing motion] and put it in the oven, bake it for ninedyleven minutes, and it will be so, so good!"
"Um. How about if we use a recipe from one of my books for the crust, then put the fruit in after?"
"No. That's not how it works."
"Okay then, how about if we make apple?"
"No."
"Cherry?"
"No."
"Strawberry-Rhubarb?"
"No."
"Shoo-fly?" She actually gives this one some thought.
"No."
"You know, Daddy's favorite pie in the world is pumpkin. Want to make him a pumpkin pie?"
"Mommy! I have a great idea! How about if we make Daddy a pumpkin pie???? He'll be so, SO happy and he'll say, SASSY! YOU MADE ME A PIE, WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!!"
"So not the first pie then? Pumpkin pie instead?"
"Yeah, I like my pumpkin pie idea better."
Yeah, me too.
